David Reiman is presently a school based Law Enforcement Officer where he assists with monthly tactical and firearms training for the division he works with. He previously served as a Sheriff's Deputy in Arizona and Tennessee. David had the opportunity to receive some incredible firearms training during the course of his LE career and loves to teach and coach others. David is a USCCA Certified Instructor as well as a CRASE (Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events taught by ALERRT) Instructor. Always subscribing to the "student before teacher" mentality, David has a number of additional certifications lined up in the next year, to include ALERRT Level 1 Instructor (active shooter training), Texas DPS License To Carry Instructor, and School Safety Instructor.
David was born and raised in Alaska, but will only make fun of you a little for wearing a coat if the weather is "Texas chilly" and will likely mention how his home state is bigger. David is happily married to the live of his life, Emily (18 years married!) and they have 3 amazing teens.
Anyone from a first time shooter to a seasoned shooter is welcome to train with TX Gunslinger Beard Co. Keep an eye open for upcoming classes to find the right fit for you.
Once a student has mastered the basics of shooting fundamentals like grip, stance, sight picture, and shooting accuracy, our goal will be to progress toward Defensive Pistol classes. These classes focus on real world application. Classes are designed to be safe, fun, and informative. We want each student to feel like they're walking away with some "nuggets" of shooting wisdom learned. Your instructor will treat you with respect and will strive to create an atmosphere where you're comfortable to learn in a safe and judgement free environment. At TX Gunslinger Beard Co, our core values are Faith, Family, Integrity, Love, and Service.
Each class will have a different equipment requirement and the info will be listed in the registration info for each individual class. We have a few small pistols and holsters available for rent if you don't have your own. But generally speaking, each participant will need a pistol, at least one spare magazine with some sort of mag carrier, whatever holster you intend to carry regularly, and the ammunition for the course you're registering for. A gun cleaning kit is highly recommended as well.
Your equipment will be dependent on how and why you carry as well as a number of other factors. If you're absolutely brand new to shooting, I'd encourage you to get scheduled for an TX Gunslinger Beard Co "Intro to Pistol Basics Course" and we can spend some time diving into different pistol types and gear needed. After your Intro course, we will get you set up on the beginning of your training path to develop defensive shooting skills. If you'd like to just talk guns a little and get our opinions on the "best" of gear before you go out and buy a new gun, reach out. We'd love to help.
In short, no. Each class will take a dive into safety to some degree, as safety in training is absolutely our top priority.
However, Defensive Pistol 1, 2, and 3 are intended to be a progression where each class builds on skills learned in the last course. Generally speaking, each class will indicate the experience level necessary in the class registration info.
